no icon for icloud?
Suddenly, I have no access to iCloud on my computer. I am asked to register but do not have an iCloud icon in systems preferences. Any idea about what I should do would be appreciated.
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

iCloud is not available in 10.6.8.
It requires 10.7.5 or later

Thanks for the quick response. This is very strange because I have been using iCloud on this computer...but it may explain its disappearance. Thanks so much. I will stop the frenzied search for a solution.

iCloud was never available in 10.6.8.
Are you confusing it with MobileMe?
Are you sure you are running 10.6.8?
I probably am...I do have an icon for mobileme, but have never 'used' it. I think I have to download the maverick system, but don't seem to be able to make that work. A mess. I'll keep trying. Thank you for trying to help. I have a feeling I am too un-techie to get this right. Appreciate the effort greatly.
If you are running Mavericks then you should have iCloud in your System Preferences.
Which version of OS X do you have?

You can share Mail, Calendars, and Contacts in iCloud running Snow Leopard. Based on my experience, I don't recommend syncing Contacts - created a lot of problems with duplicates.
Snow Leopard iCloud - Address and iCal
Snow Leopard iCloud - Configuring Mail with Mac OS X v10.6 or iOS 4
I think I have to download the maverick system, but don't seem to be able to make that work.
What isn't working?
I didn't have Maverick until about an hour ago. I can't understand how I have had iCloud calendar for the last few months with my Mac OSX 10.6...but I did. Something must have changed??
Anyway, all is restored with the Maverick download and I thank you for your help
You mentioned you could not find it in System Preferences.
There are ways to sync with parts of iCloud in 10.6.8.
I was referring to it being integrated into the OS and therefore being available in System Preferences.
