Tracking a stolen iPod?

My iPod was stolen out of my car in my driveway on the ONE night I didn't lock my doors. I filed a police report and all I needed to do.

I just had a thought though...if I still have my box with the serial number on it is there any way I can report it as stolen so that no one else is able to access iTunes with it? Anyone ever had any experience with this?

Not with just a serial number, and I think also not with an iPod Classic.
