I have an iMac G5 PowerPC running 10.4.11. How can I get Hotmail to work properly?

I understand that 10.4.11 is the highest version of software I can use on my iMac, but when I log in to Hotmail it asks me to upgrade my version of Safari (I'm on 4.1.3 (4533.19.4)) otherwise it continues to "mobile experience". This is usable, but not as good as when I use Hotmail from a Microsoft PC. Any advice? Thanks.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.4.11), G5 PowerPC

Hi,

Actually you could get 10.5.8 on it & a higher Safari version, but other Browsers are available...

TenFourFox is the most up to date browser for our PPCs, they even have G4 & G5 optimized versions...

I'd avoid vesrion 24 though, as it no longer supports plug-ins like Flash.

SeaMonkey seems pretty fast also, with many options...

Might also look into iCab & OmniWeb versions.

BDAqua, thank you very much for telling me about TenFourFox. I have downloaded it and am already using it. Hotmail now works like it should, so I'm extremely pleased. It was easy - very easy - to fire up TenFourFox, and it started working immediately. All I need to do now is to bump up the size of the text a bit and I'll be happier still. Oh, and I'll discover soon how it works with my blog on Blogger.

There seemed to be no option to avoid version 24, as you suggested, but so far it seems OK.

I don't think I can give the link to the actual page as it is my personal "signed in" side of things... but the blog is hosted by www.blogger.com if that helps.

A very strange thing happens when I try to write a reply in Hotmail now, or create a new message: everything I type comes out backwards, like this: sdrawkcab tou semoc epyt I gnihtyreve but the backwards text isn't "highlightable" or copyable; and the text doesn't appear at the recipient's end. Any ideas? Is it the dreaded v24?
