iTunes is giving me trouble. I click on the dock icon (or the icon in the app folder) and it all looks fine until a few seconds later when it crashes, no beachball.
I've tried the usual restart/permissions/safe mode/install itunes again/delete prefs folder and none of these have worked. I've also tried creating a new iTunes library. No joy. OS X 10.9.2 iTunes 11.1.15

I have the same problem, which existed with the previous version. This newest version, 11.1.15 was supposed to correct this crashing issue but it has not worked so far.
I too have this problem...in fact everytime I update Itunes. So very frustrating! Anyone have any ideas. other than having to make a trip to the Apple store to have them reboot it..which they did last time this happened..ugh..I am getting over Apple.

I've found a workaround for now - seems like something in the ibooks library was causing the crash. I took everything out of:
USER/Library/Containers/com.apple.BKAgentService/data/documents/iBooks/books
Then I opened iTunes again and it's not crashing. Slowly adding things back in now.
