Display NEC MultiSync EA274WMi does not work with OSX

I am running OSX 10.9.2 on a MacBook pro with 2GHz Intel Core i7.

Connecting my new Display NEC MultiSync EA274WMi with a resolution of 2560x1440 does not run correctly.

I tried different cables and use an Adapter from Thunderbolt (Mini-DisplayPort) to DVI.

It seems to be a Problem of OS X, the Displays-Facility simply does not show higher resolutions than 1080p.

Is there any work around?

I feel this is a really very very bad behavior of Apple, since similar problems are reported since a year....

My system has no problems displaying on an external monitor at 2560x1440, so this is not a global problem with 10.9.2. Most likely you have the wrong adapter. I'm guessing you have a single-link DVI adapter and you need a dual-link DVI adapter to get resolutions above 1920x1080.

I'd suggest you just get a mini-DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable and avoid the adapter altogether. Then you'll be sure to get the maximum resolution the monitor is capable of.

Regards.
