Settings App > Mail,Contacts,Calendars > {Hotmail account} > Contacts [turn off].
Settings App > Mail,Contacts,Calendars > {Hotmail account} > Contacts [turn off].
Are all of these contacts still visible in the Contact App (not mail app)? If so, delete them from there. AS for contacts showing up when you compose a mail or text message, yes. they are cached, but will fall out after a while if you haven't actually used them. You can - assuming they are not in the contacts App) - remove any of these by taping the ℹ that appear to the right of them on the list, and taping Remove from recent (you may have to swipe up on the box to see it). The ℹ should NOT appear for contacts that are actually still in the contacts app.
If they are still in the contacts app, you may need to individually delete them (I assume this would be the case if you imported rather then synced).
To delete one by one, tap the contact so the information is displayed. Then tap edit, scroll to the very bottom of the info and tap delete contact. Tap done. Hopefully they won't return.
Thanks. Done. But the contacts remain. Every time I go to compose a Hotmail message all of my contacts appear. I will prefer to add as I go along. I have 100s on the lapyop that I don't want imported to my Pad.
Are they actually still in the contacts app? Past used email addresses and contacts will show up when designating a To or cc in email, even if they are not actually in Contacts (eventually they fall out, and can be deleted from that list).
These are many but not all contacts (from the beginning of time) that must have been imported when I first added Hotmail as my default email about a month ago. They're from using Hotmail over the years and I never delete a contact. Now, with this elegant machine, I would like to keep the contacts to a minimum. I would even be willing to manually delete (which would take a bit of time) but i cannot find where, on the iPad the list appears. And I've sent a minimum of emails from the iPad so there should be 10 at most.
Update I just found all contacts on the iPad in the Hotmail account. When I go to compose and hit the + they all appear. If I go to Maii-->Settings and turn contacts OFF or ON they show on the compose page when I touch the +. Regardless of whether contacts is off or on.
I want them gone. And once again, only a few have or will be used mobile.
They're in the Contacts app. Thank you. But I don't see a global delete or any way to do 1 by 1. It looks like I was able to "Hide" from Facebook & iPad. But not delete. In Outlook you can "Hide" but they keep reappearing. I have no ℹ icon when the contacts on Outlook do appear.
Thanks for your help but I'm wasting your time. I'll "get the book" or see if Apple+ can walk me through.
I never synched this to the laptop. I'd like to use this as a stand alone. And the only time I accessed iCloud was a few days ago so they could redo a "defective ios 7.0.6" But the contacts were there from the day I added Outlook.
