New Mac Pro shuts down when I put it to sleep?

It sounds like your computer is going to sleep but when you later go to wake it up it will not turn on unless you press the power button and it looks to have shutdown at some point. I recommend checking to see if the computer is scheduled to shutdown at a certain time with the following article:

Schedule your Mac to turn on, turn off, go to sleep, or wake from sleep at specified times. You might do this if you want to be sure your Mac turns off when you aren’t working and turns on before you come to work.

   • To schedule a startup or wake time for your Mac, select the “Start up or wake” checkbox. Choose a day or group of days from the pop-up menu, then enter a time.
   • To schedule a shutdown, sleep, or restart time for your Mac, select the bottom checkbox and choose the appropriate option from the pop-up menu. Choose a day or group of days from the pop-up menu, then enter a time.

Same problem here!

My new Mac Pro shuts down (not instantly), every time i activate sleep mode.

And i don't have "caffeine" running, it's nearly blank, just installed dropbox and 1Password.

No schedules under "Energy Saver" either.

What's going on?!

Same issue here with 2 new mac pros. Both have the same issue. They will go to sleep and turn off. not right away . wacthed the computer sleep for at least 5 hours yesterday, then this morning it was off. had to unplug and replug in to even get the power button to come on.

The same for me:

Macpro goes to sleep. After some hours sleeping it appears to be switched off. No mouse click or monitor on/off-toggle wakes him up. Plugging the main power cord and putting it on again wakes him up. But surprise: It ist still in the state when I put him to sleep.

Konsole reports no errors, but says that the machine was in hibernate mode.

What happens in (deep sleep) hibernate mode? No problems so far in suspend to ram mode.

Have you run the hardware test click D when restarting. Remove all externals except for mouse and display.

I ran the power on tests, but no problems were found.

Made a call to the Apple support and they recommended:

SMC & PRAM Reset: (1) plugging power cord off for 20 seconds and in a second step (2) rebooting with cmd+alt+P+R pressed.

Then removing the systen preferances plist com.apple.LaunchServices.plist

Then clearing the contents of the Caches directory

Let's see how it works.

The only way I have to stop this from happening is to deselect the "Put Hard drives to sleep when possible" option in the "energy Saver" System Prefrences.

Apple just called and said they know a bunch of people are experencing the same issuue and they are trying to figure it out.

I have the 2013 Mac Pro without those problems but I took the time to install the EFT 2.0 and the SMC 2.0 updaters which are required.

Check you versions using ASP; here's mine should be yours:

Mine are the same as yours.

Then double check your ram for obvious damage. Ther's been cases.

Any news on this?

I tried SMC & PRAM Reset several times, disabling "Put hard drives to sleep when possible", etc. ... nothing helped.

My new Mac Pro still shuts down in sleep mode, every time, after a couple of minutes.

Did the proposed soultions help anyone?

Can anyone having this problem go into Terminal.app and type the following command and post the results?

% pmset -g

then, but only post the last instance after the shutdown.

% pmset -g log
