New Mac Pro shuts down when I put it to sleep?

I go to click my mouse of keyboard and nothing happens. I click the power button the back lights up and turns on as if it were off, what gives? This is brand new 64gb ram, 12 core, didn't even do a migration so it's all new stuff on here.

Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2), 12 core, 64gb ram

Another test with another boot drive (internal SSD OS X 10.10) and it didn't make any difference... Was semi-shut down when home from work.

Semi shut down as it reacts on mouse to wake it up, but reloads all menu items and all open apps that stopped after about 4 hours.

Strange this is.

Rem: The post above I used an external Thunderbolt drive running OS X 10.10 and Windows 8.1 via Parallels Desktop and Boot camp.

In my case it was a hardware malfunction, i had to send my mac pro to Apple (accordingly to the hotline it went to the development department by request, for testing, they took the matter pretty serious) and got i a brand new one (in may 2014) ... since then, the problem has gone.
No more random shutdowns caused by crashes in sleep mode.

I would recommend you to do so, i tried everything for weeks, checked every external device, unplugged everything, reinstalled OS, installed every app step by step and had to wait and wait, to see if the problem is still there ... sometimes it disappeared for some days.
One day i finally had enough and called Apple. I had to wait 4 weeks for the new mac, because of the high demand, but that shouldn't be a problem any more ; )

In my case those shutdowns were defintly caused by crashes, every time i rebooted the mac after a sleep mode break-off, the OS showed the well known notice because of the crash.

Well, I can't say it crashes for me, it just will not stay up running after the screen shuts down after about 1h after I left it and after 3-4 more h the MP semi-shuts down as well and stopps all running apps, and I need it to keep running as I several apps running while away and don't want the screen to be on when not there to save both the screen and energy....
