Unable to Edit in iMovie

All of a sudden I am unable to edit my iMovie projects. When I select any of them, the "edit" feature greys out and I am unable to edit. Help.

Also, what does the little "sound" waves icon over the three little share boxes mean?

iMac, iOS 7.0.6, iMovie
