iPad Disabled

I'm traveling internationally and somehow my iPad has been disabled while it was in my bag. From my research it appears this happens when the password has been incorrectly entered multiple times. I need to unlock my device but obviously do not have access to my computer that I normally synch with due to my travels. Anyone able to supply information on how to unlock the device? I am at an Internet cafe and trying to connect via their iTunes but it is not recognizing the device. Thanks!

If you are using iOS 7, have turned on Find My on the iPad in Settings > iCloud, you can login to your iCloud account from another computer or device and click Find My Phone and remove the iPad from your equipment list, and then send a remote erase signal. That will remove all content and settings and restore the iPad to factory condition. That is the same thing that is done by restoring by recovery mode as described in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212.

There are really two approaches here:

1. Use a computer running iTunes to restore through recovery mode, which resets to factory condition and you then need access to a backup to restore your content; such as on the computer or in iCloud.

2. Use another device to login to iCloud and remote erase your iPad, and then restore your content and settings from a backup in iCloud.

Both of those, if your own comptuer is not available, mean you have to have made a backup of the iPad in iCloud so you don't lose your content. Your apps and music you can redownload from the app store and from the iTunes store. But your other content you need a backup to restore to the iPad.
