Mac wont mirrow on TV

Evening! I have had the mavericks update since it's release. Before the update, I was able to plug my MBP (2010) into my tv using a vga and adapter, then used an audio wire in my headphone jack. This system always worked great. Now, only the audio works. My mac screen will go grey as if it was trying to display, but my tv says no input. I have read numerous forums, and nothing.. I have tried resetting the NPRAM, nothing.. Please Help! Thanks!

About AirPlay and Airplay Mirroring

AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). For non-qualifying Macs you can try using Air Parrot.

Thanks to the $15 Beamer, AirPlay streaming is still possible on Macs that do not support Airplay and mirroring.

Other solutions are the Air Parrot, StreamToMe, and AirServer.
