How to restore Mac with no disc

Hello, my dad purchased a Mac a few years back and I really didn't use it and now I am starting to use it more as I get older and to install programs we need his admin password and he forgot it and has no idea where it is. We also lost the Mac osx disc while moving. I need to install Microsoft office so I can write my essays for class. Help please!!

Call your national Apple on-line store and have the serial number to hand. It will be on the back or the underside of the stand. From that information they should be able to send you a replacement disk for a modest cost. Then you can set about changing the admin password using this info >>>>>
