How to set up a USB to serial com port

HI everyone,

I am in need of help for this issue. I have to connect my Gimball board to the iMac so I can set it up and tune it. To do this there is a usb cable that ends with a serial connection to the board.

I tried to use the specific software to set up the gimball (btw a Basecam Alexmos board Simplebgc) but first i have to let the com port to work.

And here come the problems. I downloaded some drivers to have the usbtoserial to work without success.

How do I setup the COM port ? What kind of software/drivers have I to install?

I also tried the same thing in Windows xp on my bootcamp partition, but have other problems (got the com port working but cannot upgrade the firmware of the gimball so I stopped using bootcamped Windows).

Thank you all for the appreciated help!
