My iPhone 4 battery was fully charged. After a couple of minutes it turned off automatically and then when i turned on my phone just shows the red battery logo. WHAT SHOULD I DO? HELP!!!

Try Reset ( No Data will be lost )
Press and Hold the On/Off switch (On top of your iPhone) and the Home Button (Button at the bottom of your iPhone screen). Hold both the keys simultaneously for atleast 10 to 15 seconds or More and you should see an Apple Logo coming up on your screen, once you see the Apple logo you can then release both On/Off switch and Home button and wait for your iPhone's Home screen.

Plug the device into a wall outlet for approximately 20 minutes. If it does not automatically power on at that point, try a reset as described by Sumesh_22
I've tried this and it still doesn't work 😟
it's been plugged in nearly all day, i've changed ports, outlets, and tried the rest as suggest by Sumesh_22
any other suggestions?
I'm going to try another cable as well,
but usually I'm able to get some sort of charge even a weak one from my current charger, not quite sure what happened
Take the device and the charger to Apple for evaluation.
My iphone 4 won't turn on just shows the battery icon
