Music won't add onto device

I manually manage the music on my 5th generation iPod Touch; however, as of recent, whenever I drag a song from my library to my iPod, the song will appear in a light grey text with a light grey, dotted circle to the left of it in my iPod's music library on iTunes and will not appear at all on my iPod. Any suggestions?
