Q: mac book pro mid 2010 crashes on easy tasks

Please, this is crazy! I am so f**king angry right now!

It is the 10th time today that this f**king machine crashes because of a simple task like opening a folder in a finder window or just now, sending an e-mail.

This is stupi and has to stop!

Many other user experiencing similar issues and even hardware replacements haven’t stopped this.

The Genius’es say it is the Nvidia graphics card and it crashes while switching from one to another card.

But why than is Photoshop working, watching Videos on YouTube and the machine breaks down on easy tasks like opening a folder from a finder window.
Several time it has crashed while clicking on the Reply or Send button in Mail.

I am running the latest OS X 10.9.2 on an MacBook Pro 15" mid 2010, 2.66 GHz i7, NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512 MB

How did you go about to do that? I have the exact problem with a 3+ year Mbp and it's driving me mad.

Same problem. set up an appointment at an Apple store certain Mid 2010 models are affected. I wish I had known that when I bought this laptop brand new in 2010. But they may even replace it for free eventhough you might be past the recall date. Some might have to pay a $300 fee for the fix. All you can do is try and explain your situation. I have never had these shutdowns with Snow Leopard. It all happened when I upgraded to Mavericks. It's a compatibility issue with the graphics card/logic board. Have it looked at.
