My imac won't mirror with my apple tv since today's update

I know this is years old.. But I ran into the same issue recently. Make sure your Apple TV and whatever device you are trying to mirror are using the exact same WiFi network.. That did it for me. I saw one was on Optimum and one was on my router. Changed them both to the same WiFi and it works flawlessly.

Disconnect the wifi from the Apple TV in settings on the Apple TV.

Reboot everything.

Computer off, modem off, router off, unplug Apple TV.

Modem on. Router on

Wait for connection lights

Computer on,

Plug in Apple TV and reconnect to wifi. Cross fingers optional, but recommended.

I too have this problem. I finally did the Mavricks update and now it won't mirror with the ATV. It will connect but it is a black screen and on my iMac the option for "Extend Desktop" is checked and won't let me uncheck it and I can't check "Mirror iMac". This worked fine before doing the OSX update for Mavricks. I have done all the restarts and what not. My iMac connects to the ATV, just won't mirror.

Any suggestions?

I have the same issue on my mid 2011 imac... but my 2013 works a treat. Same wifi connection.. both running 10.9.2.. frustrating

For what it's worth, I have a similar configuration and the same issue. I can't uncheck the extend display and I can't stream video to the ATV, except through iTunes. All software is updated. If I want to play a movie through iTunes to my ATV, it works perfect. Mavericks seems to have introduced more bugs than anything else.

guys your all going to love me i think.. does anyone have splashtop installed ? if so find the .dmg run it go to unistaller and uninstall it i have had this issue for the last two months but it just started working today! tell me if it helps =]

I have fixed my problem. In my case was a application I had installed to extend my desktop to my android tablet, iDisplay. So you might check if you have some other kind of mirroring app and uninstall it. After a restart my mirroring problem has gone.

Same problem and solved in the same way as you did, the only difference is the application I had was AirDislplay from Avatron.

Did the same thing (uninstall) and now it works!

I have the a similar problem. I bought a new iMac last week. I can mirror my screen to Apple TV, that works fine. The issue starts when I press the play button in iTunes to start the movie, then the movie does not show on my apple tv, neither on my iMac....I get a grey screen, but the sound does work.

If I disconnect Apple TV, it does show the movie on my iMac.

Any suggestions?

Famousdmo you are a genius - spent days trying to figure this out - but yes it was splashtop. Uninstalled it and Voila. AppleTV working again

Turn off your firewall on the mac and try again.
