Q: Logic board or ram, or?
I've been experiencing some weird stuff with my Macbook Pro from mid-2009.
It's been freezing a lot, but then suddenly a couple of months ago, it wouldn't start and made 3 beeping sounds.
I googled it, and decided to reinsert the ram, which helped - for a while.
2 weeks ago it suddenly wouldn't boot again, this time beeping the morse code for S.O.S.
I took it down to the local apple repair store, and they said it was the ram that was bad. I ordered new ram and installed them last night. They worked fine, but only for 2 minutes, then the mac froze. I restarted it, but this time the screen was pixelated and frozen as well.
I took it to the repair shop again, and they then told me that the only other explanation was that the ram sockets were loose, and offered me to repair it by installing a new motherboard for aprox. 1000 $. So I went home with my unfixed computer, but then, when I turned on at home, it worked again! I even tried flipping it around to see if the rams would come loose, but they haven't!
So, I'm really hoping my computers fixed, but just in case it starts beeping again, what do you think I should do?
I just don't trust the repair shop anymore, they seem like they just wan't to make some money without actually knowing anything.
Could it be the sockets that are loose, and is the only possible solution to actually replace the logic board?! Or could it be something else? I read something about updating firmware maybe?
What do you think? Any suggestions is appreciated!!
