nasty feedback when trying to record using the internal mic
I get nasty feedback when trying to record using the internal mic on my macbook. I'm running Maverick. Why is this happening?
MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

Are you using headphones instead of speakers?
No, I'm not using headphones. Do you think that the computer is picking up feedback from the speakers? What's odd is that a fair amount of recording was done earlier this week using just the laptop without headphones and there wasn't any feedback at all.
No doubt whatsoever that the internal mic is feeding back with sound from the speakers. Try headphones.
Note: there may be other issues involved, but without further details I can only suggest that using headphones is the best way to accurately hear what you're recording, adjust gain levels, and avoid feedback. So this should be the first thing to try as you troubleshoot.
Thanks!
