When i updated to Mavericks my Microsoft Office wouldn't work.

This might have something to do with your install. Do you still have access to the software? If not, do you have access to a backup of your latest install? If so, I would reinstall from a backup. I know I would hate to lose some of my historical information. Let me know if you need help getting that going.

What was the prior OSX version you were using before the update to Mavericks and what edition of Microsoft Office do you have?

If you don't have a backup, just reinstall the software and update it before you start using it.

Microsoft Office 2011 should be compatible with Mavericks. I suggest going to the Microsoft web site and downloading it.

How are trying to open it. From the Dock, the Launchpad, Finder>Applications or all 3?
