Q: Aperture won't open or update

I get a message that the iPhoto library cannot be opened when trying to open Aperture and it says I need to update Aperture, but there are no updates available.  I am using OSX 10.9.2.  I am not computer savy and do not know how to resolve this.  Is someone able to assist me in fixing this?  Thanks

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

What version of Aperture are yo using? The latest is 3.5.1 and if you are running 10.9  that is the version you should have.

If you go to the Mac App Store does Aperture show in your Purchases tab?

I am using Aperture 3.5.1.  Yes, Aperture does show in my Purchases tab, but there are no updates there.

I went into the Applications folder after posting my question on here, and opened Aperture from there and saved it to my tool bar.  This new icon opens fine from the tool bar.  I deleted the old icon on the tool bar as it would not open properly.  So for now things again appear to be working.  I don't understand why, but whatever it was I did, it's working right now.

    Thank you for your input

Check in System Preferences under Spotlight if you have the Applications folder added as an index exception. If it is, click the minus button to remove it. If you cannot see it, then just remove all exceptions anyway. I am sure after a few seconds (or minutes) you will be able to run the update. At least for me it worked. As Frank Caggiano explained, Aperture 3.5.1 is the current version, and compatible with your MacOS X version.  So there should not be any updates necessary.

Your old icon in the Dock might have been linked to an older version of Aperture. Have you checked (searched with Spotlight), if there is still an older Aperture version on your computer?
