iPod nano: AppleCare+ & Nike+ community synchronization?

(1) Does the iPod nano sync to Nike+ online community? Does it synchronize to the Nike+ online community? I heard that it does not sync to the Nike+ community if it only has Nike iPod app instead of Nike+ app.

(2) Can I purchase Applecare+ for the iPod nano? Will be using for running activities (Nike+ & music player). Currently using iPhone which does not last the duration of a full marathon even with an extended battery pack like Mophie or Otterbox (i'm a jogger...not a runner).
