Hello, just to be clear... When you say Charger do you mean the USB cable or the device or your computer that plugs into the wall? (the charger is the device not the cable) Some iPod 5 were shipped with defective USB cables. Do you have a different cable you could try? Or a different charger? To trouble shoot the problem, narrow it down. If you find it is the cable, I suspect it is, and you are within 1 year from purchase you can return the USB cable for a new one, generally for free; if Apple determines it is in fact defective. If older than 1 year you will need to purchase a new cable. Also, visually inspect the charging port, is there foreign debris, lint, dirt corrosion, etc. anything which may be blocking an electrical connection, if so remove it by blowing, or with a soft artist brush. do you see any cracks, or missing pieces in or around the port? Does the cable firmly snap in and hold in the port? If the cable is loose or pieces are missing from the port or you determine the cable is bad, contact Apple Genius Bar for an evaluation. Hope this helps, Good luck, Cheers.

If not covered by the AppleCare+ warranty,

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $99 for 16 Gb 5G and $149b for the other 5Gs. They do not fix yours.

A third-party place like the following maybe less. Google for more.

Replace the connector yourself if you are up to it

Hey Mosslander, Good stuff, but be careful, canned air can get cold enough to freeze the port and cause damage if not used correctly; short 1 to 2 second blasts maybe 3 to 4 blasts-- stop before the can gets cold. Also never use a conductive object like a pin or paper clip to clear a charging port, bad idea shorting out the battery, toothpick OK; but I would caution against it, to easy to bend or break the pins in the port if you're not careful. It's why I suggest using an artist brush, like the ones that come in a children's water color paint set. Good luck, Cheers.
