Windows 8.1 - itunes won't play but looks fine CONNEXANT AUDIO

I have the following issue :

itunes 11.1.5.5 only reads downloaded videos (youtube) with a very bad sound and sometimes stopps.

QUICKTIME Pro is playing the same videos pretty well and on another PC, with iTunes 11.1.4.62 no problem at all.

As I read in another thread

that the connexant audio driver could be the problem, I updated said driver to version 8.32.43.0. This however did not help.

Any hint how I could solve this issue ?
