I had to change my apple ID but my iPad and iPhone shows the old apple ID for iCloud and cannot change it

I had to change my apple ID (email address) but my iPhone and IPad Mini show my old email address for iCloud as my apple ID and is greyed out and I cannot change the ID so I can log in to iCloud.

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.4, Same issue with iPad Mini

You need to trick apple server into thinking that old account still exists. Go to apple id website and change your email back to old, do not verify just delete icloud accounts as soon as you can. Then change it back and verify.
