Q: Can i reset my iPad mini to make a new Apple ID

I don't want my iPad to have the same Apple ID like my iPhone since I will be sharing my iPad with others and don't want them to see my contacts or anything that's synced from my phone to the iPad. Could I just reset it like a new iPad and start over?

iPad, iOS 7

Yes you can but you will have to buy your own apps with the new Apple ID.

You can reset to factory defaults : Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content & Settings (if you have Find My iPad enabled then turn that 'off' first : Settings > iCloud > Find My iPad)

    Creating a new account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2731

Or if you don't want to give credit card details then follow the instructions on this page for creating it : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534

And turn on 'Find My iPad' on it (Settings > iCloud) when you've done so - iOS 7 has activation lock so it's more difficult to remove from an account, so will hopefully give you a better chance of getting it back if it's stolen.

You can set Settings > General > Restrictions > Account (under the 'allow changes' heading) to Don't Allow Changes which will stop any changes to any accounts e.g. Settings > iCloud, adding/removing email accounts to the Mail app, Settings > iTunes & App Store. If the iPad will be shared then you can also use Settigns > General > Restrictions to stop in-app purchases and to hide the App Store and iTunes store apps (or to require the account's password to be entered for every download)

No, but the instructions apply to your iPad -- that's what you want to reset as new, right?  Restoring your iPad to start over will have no effect on your iPhone.

Only if you set your new Apple ID up with a credit card, even for free stuff.

But if you just want a new ID for iCloud for the iPad, you can still use your current ID for iTunes Store & App purchases -- iCloud ID and Store ID don't have to be the same.  But its your choice, if you're going to share the iPad maybe you don't want people to make purchases against your other ID.
