Error Message

Okay, so I have an HP laptop and it recently updated to Windows 8.1. Well I have iTunes on the laptop. But after the update it won't let me connect any iPod to iTunes. I have tried my iPods with other computers in the house and it works fine. But when I hook it up to this laptop it gives me an error message in iTunes stating:

"An iPod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPod, then try again."

Well I did this a couple more times and ended up with the same message. So I looked into it and did what some internet forums told me to do and I arrived at some very confusing error messages that I really do not understand. One being:

"USB Mass Storage Device is not working properly."

and the other:

"Problem with PnP devices."

I'm sure someone knows what it means by all of this and can help me fix this.

Thank you for your time.
