Hey guys! I recently aquired a 2008 Mac pro, However I quickly learned how "wonderful" the xt 2600 is. I just bought the Msi gtx 650 and attempted to boot my computer. (All I got was a black screen, with beep) I was reading some other Apple community articles and others have gotten the card to work. The only issue I might see is that I didn't have a 6 pin power cable, Is this required?

No GTX 650's use an external power connector and they don't need one in a Mac Pro. Mine worked fine in El Capitan from the HDMI port, although of course, I couldn't see the boot screen. In Windows it worked perfectly, using PC drivers.
Yes, if t he card has one, and it should, you need to buy special Apple type 6-pin.
Also need to be running 10.7.5, though probably recommend 10.8.5. You need at least 10.6.8 to access App Store to buy and download Lion and above.

Im on a MacPro 1,1 running Mavericks 10.9.2 with a PNY GTX 650 XLR8 Performance Edition ( I bought at BestBuy - PC card / no EFI ) for $114 w/ tax. Running awesome. I do have a modified boot.efi. Bunch of threads on that but it does work really good. You will need one of those 8pin to 6 pin PCIe power cables.

I noticed that you installed a GTX 650 in your mac pro 1,1. I just installed Yosemite on my mac pro 1,1 (by modifying the installer and downloading a new boot.efi, http://www.pro-tools-expert.com/home-page/2015/3/2/how-to-resurrect-a-2006-mac-p ro-11-so-it-can-run-osx-yosemit.html ).
Anyways, I have the Mac Pro 1,1 with the same specifications as yours (except with 8GB ram currently). I wanted to know how you got your GTX 650 to work in your mac pro. Did you just install the driver and pop in the card and have it work, or was there other steps you had to take?
