OS X Mavericks cannot be installed on "Macintosh HD"

Hello -- I need help upgrading from OS X Version 10.8.5 to the new Mavericks. It says that drive is used by Time Capsule. I read some of the threads about removing backups.backup... something or other but have not been able to locate that file. Any help in basic, beginner Mac language would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for that Kappy, and I had seen that before, but how do I "Move the "Backups.backupdb" folder from the root level of your hard drive to the Trash"?

I don't know how to get to the "root level" of my hard drive for one, and secondly, I have tried all the search conventions I know and have been unsuccessful at locating "Backups.backupdb"

Thanks again.
