iTunes Won't Sync Purchased Items To Playlist

Only recently (after my last update), when I download new music from the iTunes Store and add that new music to a playlist, then sync my iPhone 5, the new music itself gets added to my device under both "Recently Added" and the general "Songs" tab. However, the new music DOES NOT appear in my palylist on y iPhone, even though it does appear in iTunes!

Interestingly, items copied from previously-purchased CDs do sync in playlists just fine.

Please tell me there's a way to fix this!

Also, I hope I don't have to restore my entire iPhone AGAIN! I have had to do this about three times in as many months as new iTunes updates have come out!
