Q: how can I update my software without credit card

I am a tech at a school. I don't want to give my personal credit card information in order to update school equipment. How can I update my software?

MacBook Air, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

Educational institutions shouldn't be letting Apple products use personal Apple IDs for initial setup. They should have an IT dept that creates Apple IDs that the school owns and controls, as well as legal educational volume licenses from Apple.

Sounds to me that there is probably an unpaid order if it's asking you to enter a CC for only an Update. Just to be sure, what exactly are you trying to update here? And from/to what version?
