Battery Percentage Stuck on the Same Value

Hi,

I'm currently experiencing issues where my iPhone 5 is getting stuck at the same percentage value. If I restart the phone by holding down the home and power button then it will restart and show the correct value. I've just updated to iOS 7.0.6 but I was having this problem before as well, so it's not related to the update.

If anyone has any advice regarding the above it would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

James.

I've also noticed that the battery percentage is stuck whilst charging, I have to restart my phone to find out how far it has charged up.

Regards,

James.

Hello Jimmy,

Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your battery on your iPhone. I recommend following the steps in this featured discussion (the title of the article mentions an iPad, but the steps are relevant for an iPhone as well):

Hi Sheila,

I have looked through the various articles about charging but unfortunately it doesn't seem to help. I have also tried updating to iOS 7.1.0 and my battery indicator is still frozen and I have to reboot my phone to see whether it is fully charged or not or how low the battery is getting. Also I have noticed that when syncing via USB cable on iTunes the phone will randomly restart itself.

Having looked in the Diagnostics section of settings I have noticed that I am getting some kind of 'CRC' error at the time of the random restarts but I am unsure as to what this means.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

James.

seeing same thing here.. iPhone 5s running 7.1.2 just started today after first reporting power stuck at 43%.. after reboot fully charged at 100% but now power cycling every 3-5 mins with CRC errors.. did backup and restore (with a bunch of reboots in the middle) and it came back to the same state all over again.. CRC errors are usually memory issues.. and well written software should block out bad memory sectors to avoid hitting them again, right? apple's iphone 6 upgrade strategy or a really bad batch of memory all dying at same time.. and software that doesn't know how to handle it. ?

It's funny (not really) how it started happening with mine (5s 7.1.2 too) also yesterday afternoon. It started with the "This cable or accessory is not certified" message with nothing plugged in to the phone.

Later yesterday when it was time to charge it I realized the phone shuts down by itself like if it was not charging at all even though there was a flash indicator next to the battery, It came up again after leaving it plugged as usual but it never charged more than 1%, performed a hard reset and it showed a more realistic value (around 6-7%) but it was not charging anymore because turn off to never see a light again 😟

tried everything but the only thing i get is the splash screen asking for a charger.
