Q: Where is the list of "trusted devices" associated with my Apple ID?

Under the "Frequently Asked Questions" about "iCloud Keychain" it says that my Apple ID is associated with a list of trusted devices.

I can't, for the life of me, find that list on-line after logging in with my Apple ID.

iMac, iOS 7.0.6, iPad, iPhone

Trusted Devices refers to your iCloud account. From a computer, log into iCloud.com. Click on Find my Phone then on Devices. You will see all your trusted devices listed there.

OK, yeah, I found this answer elsewhere. It's a terrible answer, but it seems to be the official one.

How is it a "terrible answer"? It gives you the exact information you asked for.

I don't mean anything personal - while it may be the only answer Apple has implemented, it's still an awful way to do it. "Find my iPhone" is a useful function, but device trustworthiness has nothing to do with it. The flaw is that Apple took the shortcut piggy-backing trust atop a convenient list being used for a different purpose.

I don't know what your understanding of Trusted Devices means, but this is all tied together. It's a list of devices that you have authorized for use with your iCloud account. This is exactly where the list should be.

There are two separate mechanisms in play.

    1. Find My iPhone. This is a mechanism that allows the account holder to locate other devices tied to that account. For example, a parent could put childrens' phones on their account to keep track of the phone locations. You set up Find My iPhone by setting a specific switch in the device's iCloud settings.

    2. iCloud Keychain. This is where the term "trusted" comes in. Trusted devices mutually share login credentials and other auto-fill information. You set up the iCloud Keychain via a separate switch in the device's iCloud settings.

In other words, I might want to find a phone but not trust it with my bank passcodes. So when the iCloud Keychain instructions say that there is a list of trusted devices, the instructions are wrong. There is no way to tell if devices are trusted or not, only if they are findable or not.

I've been looking at other threads on this subject, and apparently there USED to be a list of trusted devices that you reached through "Manage My Apple ID." At least, I found a year-old discussion post describing the list.
