Q: time capsule is not recognising the existing wifi network?

I am trying to set up a new time capsule to my existing wifi network. but it doesnt seem to be recognising it. Instead its promting me to ceate a new network?

OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

You do not want to do this. It is a really bad setup, UNLESS your existing wireless network is an Apple Router.

Join a wireless network is deliberately made hard to get at because Apple do not recommend or support it.

Yes, you,re right. Finally I had to get an ethernet connection into the TC from my existing router for it to talk to each other! talk about open systems!!
