Safari 7 won't open immediately when clicked on.

Hello All,

My macbook pro has recently developed an issue opening Safari 7. Normally my computer turns on, loads the desktop, and then I can click on anything as soon as I see icons on the desktop. For some reason when I click on the Safari icon in the dock nothing happens. It used to do a few bounces and then open but now it doesn't open or bounce. Clicking more doesn't help either. After 10-15 seconds it opens up but doesn't open a new window, just the status bar at the top changes and I have to manually open a new window (command+N)

I did recently update OS, but the problem was still there before I updated. Currently running 10.9.2 now.

This is a rather new issue. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

MacBook Pro (15-inch Mid 2010), OS X Mavericks (10.9.2), Safari 7
