I am about to purchase a MacBook Pro - i5 with 500 GB Harddisk and 2.4 GHz speed.
I want to upgrade original 4GB RAM with a Kingston 8GB RAM to the new machine. I wish to know whether this is worthwhile and will the Kingston 8GB RAM give me more or double the speed to that of an original Apple 4GB RAM?
Will appreciate support asap?

Use Crucial or OWC RAM. Their RAM works better with Macs and has fewer unexpected issues than others.
RAM will let you keep more things active and can make you system faster. But only a better CPU will make your system really really faster. Buy the RAM anyway. It will help.
RAM is the best bang for your buck for improving performance.
I would do it in a heart beat.

Macs can be very Fussy about RAM...
