I don't believe there is a way to find an iPad with only the Serial Number. If you have Find My iPhone turned on within the iPad, you should be able to locate it given that it has internet connectivity.

Are you talking about a lost or stolen iPad? If so, you will have had to install the Find My iPhone application and activated it on your iPad before it went missing. If not, even having the serial number will not help in locating it.

No, you cannot locate a lost iPad by knowing the serial number.
