I've bought a second hand Macbook pro 17 inch early 2008 and safari is only cover the half of my display, tried to make adjustments in "display" but it doesn't help, how can I fix this? This is my first Apple computer.

Grab the side of the open window w/ your mouse and drag it bigger.
Try the green pill in the upper left corner.
I already tried that, the green pill makes it only larger (in height) not wider and I can't make it wider with the mouse.
Sounds like you may have altered the the native?
Apple Menu()>System Preferences>Displays
I tried some but that didn't solved it so I put it back to what it was. That is 1920x1200.

Well I don't know 10.5.8 anymore to say more.
Most all apps if you grab the side border or bottom corner you can drag the window to whatever size you want.
You maybe able to goolge for a third party app or Safari plug-in to work around.
