Doublechecking. Have you tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

Mar 8, 2014 11:46 AM in response to b noirby Moosetrade,Thanks for the help but I had to do a system restore back to a week prior to completely remove this update and then all my devices worked. I had even lost my ability to recognise my ipad. Not sure why this update shut me down like this. Not sure either what will happen next time I need to update.
