Installed new hard drive, and replaced memory, trying to load snow leopard

I replaced my hard drive with a ne/used one at same time I also replaced memory. the hard drive is the same speed, more gb, the memory is correct in what I should be using, I am installing into my 2009 late/ mac mini. I folled instructions by partitioning, using mac journaled, guid, etc. I boot off snow leopard retai; disk, and attempt to install. afte all that time it reaches about 80% then comes up with an error about sodtware, contact software manufacturer. UGH.. I tried a secon time to install, and my mac just shut down after an hour, it took about a 5 min wait before I could restart it. anyone have any ideas? i verified disk, says its ok doky. Thank you
