Replace Backup HD

After 2 years, my external Time Machine HD is finally full, so I purchased a new HD to replace the full drive. I'm wondering what's the best procedure for transitioning to a new drive. 1. Simply start fresh with the new drive while keeping the old drive with it's old data, or 2. should I transfer the old HD data to the new drive, and if so what's the best procedure.

Thanks, Mike

Your choice actually. If you want to transfer the old backup to the new drive, Disk Utility's Restore tab works better than a Finder copy most of the time.
