Problem with Belkin Dual Port Charger/Iphone 5c

I have a Belkin Dual Port car charger sold as iPhone 5 compatible (comes with USB to lightning cable). After upgrading to IOS 7.0.6 on my iPhone 5C it now says "accessory may not be supported" and won't charge the phone. It worked before. I have tried 2 different iPhones, 2 different vehicles, 2 different USB cables. Happens consistently. Tried it on an Iphone 4s on 7.0.3 and it worked so I don't think its the charger at fault. Upgraded Iphone 4s to 7.0.6 to test it out and it still works.

Anybody else have this problem? Did they change something in this area in 7.0.6 for Iphone 5c?

Try a genuine Apple cable. All the charger does is provide power, volts and amps. The cable is where the intelligence is found and there is a chip in authorized Apple cables that IOS 7 now validates.

I understand what you are saying Raymond however this same cable and same charger worked on previous versions of IOS 7 prior to the upgrade to 7.0.6. My understanding is the chip validation thing kicked in on the first version of IOS7. Also I have borrowed another charger (not a Belkin) and with the same cable it also works. I don't think its the cable alone - maybe the comibination or something but it definitely seems like something changed in 7.0.6.

Just tracked one down. The genuine white apple cable works with the Belkin charger. Looks out of place with the black interior of my car mind you. This makes no sense to me. The cable Belkin sell with their charger specifically for Iphone5 does not work with Iphone 5. The same cable does work with a dual port charger from another vendor!

So now I need to buy a new cable or a new charger. Nice work Apple - you've done it again $$$$!

Call Belkin. It's thier product that's failed, not the iPhone. If they would have built it to spec, it wouldn't have this problem.

Actually I tried that first - have you ever spoken with Belkin Tech Support??? Frustrating does not adequately cover it - and not just this one case I am talking about - other products also! :-) You should see their support communities and all the furstrated people on there!

I stil say Apple changed something in 7.0.6 though. This worked before I upgraded.

7.0.6 was just a security update. it wont effect your charging issue
