Remove a CD/DVD?

I have a 27-inch IMac, purchased in December 2012. I have a CD/DVD that apparently is in an unsupported fromat that will not eject. How can I get this disk to eject?

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

This works: Restart, and then hold down the LEFT mouse button immediately AFTER the chime at restart. It will pop right out.
