I tried adding QTMovieWin.dll to the existing System Variable Path, but accidentally deleted my original Path that was in there.  My Itunes crashes everytime I try to update, and doesn't give me the reason why.  I am using Norton Internet Security, and have tried updating Itunes w/the AV and Firewall disabled.  Nothing seems to work.  I just want my Itunes back! :-)   Any help would be appreciated.

Is there any sort of error message at all? If there is, what does it say? (Precise text, please.)

If there's no error message, walk us through what happens when you try to update iTunes.

I select "download update", Norton Internet Security asks if I want to make changes to this computer, I select "Yes".  During the "installation" portion of the 68mg download, it errors out.  It says:

"Errors occurred while installing the updates.  If the problem persists, choose Tools > Download only and try installing manually.

I tried installing manually, and I get an error saying Invalid F drive.  Itunes isn't located in m F drive. I don't know why it's giving me that error at all?

So, there's no error # to reference to go along w/this.  I ran diagnostics for Itunes, and it did come back as saying my Itunes helper wasn't functioning, but my ipods do show up in itunes.

I should clarify, my Itunes work, it's the Itunes store I cannot access.

That's perfect, thanks. Try the following user tip:

    "Invalid drive X:\" install errors

b noir, thanks for your help so far. I tried the steps for the Invalid drive, but it didn't work. I was still getting the error message regarding an Invalid F drive. Even after SUBST F: C:\

So, I went rogue and tried repairing all files in my Apple Updates folder. Now my iTunes won't open at all.

I deauthorized my current computer, and uninstalled iTunes and all related files/folders. I've since reinstalled iTunes 11.1.5.5, but now I have multiple issues:

Some of my songs won't play in my library. It says "this computer is not authorized to play xxxxxx song" and asks if I want to authorize it.  I type in my Password to authorize, and it gets stuck trying to "access iTunes Store". So, I'm not sure if my computer is actually authorized or not?

I then run diagnostics in iTunes, and I get an error saying "Secure link to iTunes Store Failed". (Which explains why I'm getting stuck while trying to access iTunes store).  I click Help next to the error, and it errors out saying "iTunes help is unavailable because your computer isn't connected to the Internet, even though I AM connected to the Internet.

    Thoughts?

With that cluster of symptoms, I'd start with the following document:

Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store

(If there's a SpeedBit LSP showing up in Autoruns, it's usually best to just uninstall your SpeedBit Video Accelerator.)

I ran autoruns and only Bonjour from Apple is showing up. SpeedBit LSP didn't show, so I couldn't remove it.

    Any other ideas?

Okay. We might be looking at damage to the Winsock key(s) rather than a conflict, then.

If that's what is afoot, we might be able to clear the key(s) manually.

Let's try wiclee's instructions from the following post:

Re: i cannot connect to itunes on my laptop

The latest instructions from wiclee worked for my iTunes! Thank you so much. In doing the above steps, some malware was installed. snap-do and quickshare.  I installed malwarebytes and adwcleaner.  Both didn't remove quickshare, but I can work on that. The iTunes problem is solved. Thank you!

    You're welcome!

It might be worth checking in at one of the reputable malware removal help forums? The MalwareBytes forum is quite good:
