How can I save a Word document as a PDF whilst retaining hyperlinks?

I know that Word can't do it (not on Mac anyway).

What other software (ideally free) can do it though?

Airport Time Capsule 802.11ac, iOS 7.0.4

...so unfortunately you're stuck with Word for Windows.

Seems as if that's happening a lot - which is why I'm breaking down and buying a Windows machine. I have so much invested in my Mac but I just don't like the direction that Apple is headed with their hardware. I just won't abide a completely closed system. I'm this >< close to finishing configuring a Sager. I hate to do it but it will do everything I want and need. I'm not giving up my Mac, though - just augmenting my computer systems!

I have a similar issue with Excel, the Mac version is crippled so I use the Windows version. I bought a PC laptop, installed Excel and RDC on it and just use it remotely in a remote session from my Mac. That way I get to leave it in the cupboard behind my desk 🙂

MS have never produced software for a Mac that equals the functionality of the Windows versions unfortunately.

I don't have Acrobat Pro, I use Preview or Adobe Reader, so it's not an exact match.

Paying for Acrobat simply to preserve an existing link reminds me again how poor Office for Mac really is.

And as I use a PC for Excel I also use NitroPDF on it for when I need PDF power.

Your open office idea is great, Good idea.

I prefer Libre Office, but there is little to choose between the two.

word for PC or word for Mac, I've never seen a single version for either that wasn't crawling with some bugs.

There is no comparison, Word for Windows works, and offers functionality far above that of the Mac version.

I need Acrobat pro for creating pdf portfolios and other things.

Nitro is so superior to Acrobat that choosing it is a no brainer, but sadly there is no Mac version.

What's the full name? PDF Nitro? Javascripting, etc? I've been working with Acrobat/Livecycle so long that I've not looked at alternatives... I'll Google it and see if they have a demo version or something...

Nitro PDF, 2 versions, Free or Pro (the free version lacks many of Acrobat's features, but offers more than Reader) Pro is the full Circus.

There is a demo of both I believe.

Here's a link.

Word (Mac Office 2011) readily retains hyperlinks as a Word document, but not when saving as PDF. The docs look terrific, but the concern is alaways how they will be look to the recipient. Will formatting and page breaks be maintained?

And that's why we have Acrobat...Acrobat Pro XI yet. But wait, Acrobat XI has a bug in the hyperlink plug-in on the Mac version. For years, Adobe has denied this, but an Adobe tech admitted as much to me this week. I am paying $49.95 a month for a Creative Cloud subscription where I only use a few of the programs. Adobe has an on-line PDF program nw called PDF Pack (formerly known as Create PDF). This program converts Word docs to PDFs with all hyperlinks fully maintained. However, the program costs an additional 9.95 a month. I am having a battle royale with Adobe. My position is that since the Mac version of Adobe Acrobat Pro XI is technically deficient, Mac users should be able to use PDF Pack for converting Word docs to fully interactive...with hyperlinks...PDFs without having to pay an additional fee. To date I am getting nowhere. We need to organize a coalition of Adobe Acrobat Pro XI users to demand that PDF Pack (conversion from Word to PDF with hyperlinks) be offered for free until such time as Adobe fixes the problem. Adobe is getting more and more like Quark Express.

Any ideas on how to bring the defective Mac version of Acrobat Pro XI to the forefront of Adobe's attention would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
