Airport compatibility questions with operating system and Airport Extreme

I have a 2008 MacBook Pro with OSX 10.8.5. I have the Airport Extreme a couple years old version 7.6.4 I have Airport Utility 6.3.1.

I have a couple very old Airport Expresses. When I try to change their names, a message pops up with "This version of AirPort Utility doesn’t support this base station." I'm thinking replacing the old Airport Expresses with new ones. Will there be compatibility issues with my operating system, Airport Extreme, and Airport Utility. It really bugs me that I can't rename my old Airport Expresses. (btw, I downloaded an older version of the AirPort Utiliity and it says my disc does not support it.) Thanks in advance. Kevin
