Q: Turning off MacBook Air keyboard light...

So I have a 2011 MacBook Air that I got from a friend. It had a Spanish keyboard so I took it to a shop and had it replaced with an American keyboard. Unfortnately this keyboard doesn't light up the keys which is not a big deal for me but I'm trying to turn off the light on the keyboard and since the keys are different it doesn't allow me to turn it down. Anyone know another way?
