With the Finder active, from the File menu, select Find... .
In the Find window that opens, in the section under the heading "Search for items whose:", click the Name pull-down menu and select Visibility. The options in the next pull-down menu to the right will change accordingly; select either invisible items or visible and invisible items as you prefer.

You can make invisible folders visible all the time (not recommended) using TinkerTool

You can also make make .hidden things visible by Booting from another drive.

You can hide things selectively using AltoMac

Thak you very much. I really appresiate your help even It did not lead to what i want. In terminal I access my tomcat server but "cd /usr/local/apache_........" I want to have access to my usr folder in finder. I have tried 60% of the options even the one you gave me to show invisible items, but I am still not able to see my usr folder. So I gave up

It ****** me totally off that i am not able to access my tomcat server through the finder. I bet I will have to work through the terminal.

Since I am new to mac (5 months now) I understand why i am still using my PC or Linux to get work done. At least when there are time limits.

I can't understan why they dont make the root cathalog available through finder and then access it by using password in case someone are freaking paranoid having those folders available up front.
