The first thing you must do is Make sure your computer Software is Up to Date. Then you can try the Migration again.

Forget the Migration assistant. As you have found out it doesn't work all the time and when it does there are unintended consequences.
There is nothing on your PC that can be used on a Mac. No programs or setting. The only thing that can be used on a Mac from a PC is your personal files. So just copy them to a external drive and then move that drive to the Mac and copy them off the drive to the Mac hard drive.
