My last attempt to upgrade to Mavericks caused my 2 Lacie external drives to become unrecognisable to my mac. Update hung up too so I lost everything...luckily I had a third back up with CCC that saved me. Im just wondering if there is a fix for this now. I got no information or help from Lacie.

I have a LaCie drive, works fine with Mavericks.
Do you have any LaCie software on the drives or on your Mac?
No. I formated them for my mac. One is a TM drive. I did have them both connected when I ran the update. Update got hung up and I had to restart my mac...lost all my data on the mac and it wouldnt recognize the TM drive anymore. Was yours used for TM?

Thanks- that's a good reminder to disconnect peripherals and boot in safe mode when doing Mac software updates.
So, had I done that, it would likely had recognized it? You reboot in safe mode after the update is finished?
Exactly the same here. Installed Mavericks and La Cie no longer shows in Finder and Time Machine reminds me that no back up has taken place. As an iMac newbie where do I go from here. In my Win PC days I always backed up to an external HD on a scheduled basis without this sort of problem.
Add me to the list. LaCIe not working after installed mavericks. HD was formated with the iMac.
